I recently received an invitation from a friend I met in Indonesia, Ghadah Alrawi, to participate in the 5th year of Eyes on Main Street. This is a photo festival that takes places throughout the whole summer in Wilson, North Carolina, but what made it so special to me was the idea: To revitalise the town, images from both established and emerging documentary photographers are displayed in the windows and walls throughout the summer.

As a photographer, it’s a HUGE honor to be included in any list alongside names like John Stanmeyer and Bieke Depoorter. I have so much respect for them and other full-time photojournalists who have changed our perspectives of the world.

The festival will run from April-August 2019 in Wilson, NC.
